Ipswich Town: Tyreece Simpson signs for Stevenage from Huddersfield

The 22-year-old spent last season on loan at Northampton Town in the third tier, where he scored six goals in 44 games for the Cobblers.

Simpson joined the Terriers from Ipswich for an initial fee of £500k in the summer of 2022, having turned down the offer of a new contract at Portman Road.

He signed a four-year deal at the John Smith’s Stadium, but never established himself in West Yorkshire, making just 10 appearances in total.

Terriers’ sporting director Mark Cartwright said in a club statement: “This is a deal that suits everybody concerned, and allows Tyreece the opportunity to seek the first team minutes he desires.

“Unlikely to have featured competitively at a senior level for us this season and not the profile of player that belongs at B Team level, we wish Tyreece well for the future.”

He now joins Alex Revell’s side, who finished ninth in the third tier last season.

Revell said: “Tyreece is big, quick and strong, has played Championship and League One football and is still only 22 years old.

“We’ve worked hard to get him to come to us on a permanent and we can’t wait to get started”.

Overall, Simpson made seven appearances for the Blues after coming through the youth academy.
