campaign from all players at Elland Road was incredibly barbarous-“chances of securing promotion to the Premier League this season” could be a hard one
Daniel Farke’s squad must remain fit if Leeds United are to have any chance of securing promotion to the Premier League this season.
Missing out to Southampton at Wembley was incredibly cruel after such a superb campaign from all players at Elland Road, but now the pressure is on Farke to achieve more this time.
The new season started very rocky, drawing 3-3 with newly promoted Portsmouth before a big blow in a 3-0 EFL Cup defeat to Middlesbrough, but the signs are positive even after the recent loss to Burnley.
After six matches, Leeds are sitting just inside the play-off spots with 11 points, just five points behind high-flyers West Brom, a lead which could diminish in no time if Farke’s men stay consistent.
However, it’s looking more and more likely that they may have to stop relying on Tottenham loanee Manor Solomon to stay fit after Farke’s latest injury update.
Speaking in a press conference ahead of the Coventry City clash [26 September], he said: “Manor’s back issues have resulted in a hamstring problem and he will miss this game.”
Manor Solomon injury concerns mooted at Leeds United
With the 26-year-old’s back issue resulting in a hamstring problem, many fans may have alarm bells ringing, especially considering his injury record in recent seasons.
Solomon’s season-long loan with Fulham was certainly hindered by injury, having undergone knee surgery, and he has played just six times for Spurs since arriving in North London.
He made five Premier League appearances during the 2023/24 season, missing 37 games due to a meniscus injury [Transfermarkt], and now concerns are being flagged over his loan spell at Elland Road.
It does not just end there, though. The winger missed several games during his time with Shakhtar Donetsk, though he did manage to rack up over 100 appearances in two-and-a-half seasons.
Of course, the hope will be the winger only misses the clash against Coventry on Saturday (28 September), especially with Dan James still sidelined, but some fans are beginning to become worried.
The Israeli international has hit the ground running, grabbing an assist on his debut against Hull City, but Farke’s wide options are starting to diminish, and Solomon’s loan spell could end badly.
In other Leeds United news, Daniel Farke could cause squad unrest after what he said recently.
