Cambridge United Vs Bolton Wanderers Match Update: Bolton Wanderers Boss Given His Stands Ahead Of His..

Cambridge United v Bolton Wanderers: Team news latest update

WANDERERS have a choice to make on the left side of their defence with Szabolcs Schön suspended for Tuesday night’s trip to Cambridge United.

The Hungary international picked up his fifth yellow card of the campaign in the 2-1 win against Blackpool after disputing a decision from referee Edward Duckworth.

Randell Williams or Jordi Osei-Tutu could now come in as a replacement at the Abbey Stadium.

Evatt hopes his young wing-back Schön – who has made an encouraging start to life in English football – can avoid picking up further cautions for dissent.

“It is disappointing and from our perspective we have to be better,” he said. “I have talked to Szabi about ill-discipline. I can cope with tackles and wrong refereeing decisions but that kind of things isn’t ideal and it has cost us now, and cost him.

“It’s something he needs to learn from now and something we all need to take note of as a group.”

Wanderers will be without Kyle Dempsey (knee), Carlos Mendes Gomes, Eoin Toal and Chris Forino (all hamstring) but have had a clean bill of health from the players who featured at the weekend.

“George Thomason is fine, which is great news, Gethin Jones is through his first 90, which is great news,” the manager added.

“The squad is in a pretty good place at the moment but it has been a while since we had a real choice and come the end of this month we should have everyone back available, provided we don’t get any more. That is the aim now, keep the squad healthy and in one piece because so far this season we haven’t had everyone together at the same time

Fingers-crossed we are saving that up for Christmas and beyond, which I think will help up immensely.”

Wanderers are expecting to be busy in the January transfer window but Evatt has reflected on recent form and drawn some encouragement from the fact only Wycombe have taken more points from the last 10 games.

“We are trying to be proactive, seeing where we can improve the squad,” he said. “We had a very average start to the season, but people forget we have lost seven of the last 10 games with a draw in there as well, that’s 22 points – more points than Birmingham in that spell, more points than Wrexham in that spell. Yet we feel under immense pressure, it’s just the crazy world of football.

“We are trying to get better and improve and Saturday was an important response to a poor result at Stockport, but we’ll carry on now and try to pick up as many points as possible before the transfer window, then pick up from there.
