Bradford City, like many clubs in the English Football League (EFL), is keen on bolstering its squad with promising young loanees from top-tier clubs.

One potential target for the Bantams is Sahil Bashir, an 18-year-old wide attacker from Brighton and Hove Albion. Bashir has demonstrated his prowess in the Brighton U18s, scoring 7 goals and providing 2 assists in 16 games during the 2023-24 season.

Bashir’s connection to Bradford adds another layer of appeal, as he originally hails from the city and was part of Bradford City’s youth setup before moving to Brighton at the age of 16. His development at Brighton has seen him follow in the footsteps of other young talents like Alfie Bradshaw (Nottingham Forest), Darryl Ombang (Leeds), Alvin Ayman (Wolves), and Max Ruddock (Wolves), who also left Bradford City for top clubs.

Bradford City is currently looking to reshape its attacking options, with players such as Vadaine Oliver and Tyler Smith potentially leaving in search of more playing time. Additionally, the club is set to lose several wide attackers who were on loan and Harry Chapman, whose contract ends in June. This scenario opens up opportunities for new attacking talents to step in, making Bashir an ideal candidate for a loan move.

Bringing in Bashir could be a strategic masterstroke for Bradford City. His talent and potential, showcased at the academy level, might translate well to men’s football, providing the attacking spark needed to push for promotion. His familiarity with the club and the city could also ease his transition, making him a valuable addition to the squad.
