Brighton Ready To Welcome They breakthrough star
Brighton & Hove Albion are interested in Colombian goalkeeper Kevin Mier, according to reports from Latin America.
The news comes from Mexico, where newspaper Zócalo Saltillo says the 23-year-old has drawn the Seagulls’ attention after first being noticed by Tottenham.
The outlet claims that according to ‘several sources’ they have heard from, Brighton made contact with Cruz Azul to ask about Mier’s situation.
The Seagulls haven’t placed a formal offer yet, though, so they may be waiting for the summer to make an actual move.
Zócalo Saltillo make it clear that the interest from the Premier League is nothing new for Mier, because Tottenham have also been following him
The good news for Brighton is that Cruz Azul would accept his departure this summer, as long as an ‘attractive offer’ shows up on their table.
The goalkeeper has just arrived in Mexico, as he was signed from Colombian side Atlético Nacional for €3.2m in January. He only made 12 appearances for the North American side, and it seems that may have been enough for him to get a move to the Premier League.
It’s likely both Tottenham and Brighton would be considering him as a back-up goalkeeper, at least initially.
