Brighton have reportedly pulled out of the race to sign an attacker wanted by Chelsea

Premier League rivals Brighton and Chelsea won’t be fighting it out in this specific transfer battle.

The Blues certainly didn’t struggle scoring goals last season, netting 77 times in the 38-game Premier League campaign.

However, it would be great if the burden on Cole Palmer was eased a bit next term.

Brighton out of the race for Crysencio Summerville

According to TEAMtalk, Brighton are out of the running this summer to sign Crysencio Summerville from Championship club Leeds United.

It is understood that Brighton were initially in pole position to buy the 22-year-old attacker, but a deal is now off the table after initial talks.

The report explains that the Leeds winger has attracted interest from the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain. Apparently, everything points towards the Dutch youngster leaving Elland Road in this window.

TEAMtalk’s report adds that Chelsea are still keeping tabs on Summerville as they plan to sign a right-footed wide player.

However, it’s likely the Blues will need to sell before splashing the cash for the Championship star.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano previously reported via CaughtOffside that Leeds could demand as much as £40m to sell Summerville.

Should Chelsea sign him?

There’s a lot to like about Leeds speed machine Summerville.

He’s a quick and tricky left-winger with such huge potential.

The Leeds star scored 21 goals and made 10 assists last season across all competitions, so it’s no real surprise that big clubs are circling for him.

The Chelsea Chronicle thinks he may be worth a punt at £40m, but he shouldn’t be a priority target.

Described as “unbelievable” by Dan James via LUTV a few months ago, Summerville is definitely someone to watch out for next season wherever he ends up.
