Breaking: Trio of Vols Named Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars

The Tennessee men’s golf trio of Jake HallBryce Lewis and Lance Simpson were honored as Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars, the Golf Coaches Association of America Announced Thursday.

To be eligible for Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar nomination, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically in NCAA Division I. In addition, they must participate in 50% of their team’s competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0 in NCAA Division I and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at their college or university.

Hall, an All-America Honorable Mention and Second Team All-SEC Selection, was a consistent force in Tennessee’s lineup in his final season as a Vol. Hall concluded the 2023-24 season with a 70.62 season stroke average, 23 rounds of par or better and three top-10 finishes.

Tennessee’s leader in season stroke average with a 70.41 mark, Lewis, earned All-America Honorable Mention honors from both Golfweek and the GCAA. Additionally, the Hendersonville, Tennessee native wracked up his fourth career Second Team All-SEC selection after a stellar redshirt senior campaign in which he posted five top-10 finishes.

Simpson registered five top-25 finishes and logged a 71.65 scoring average during the 2023-24 season. The Knoxville native provided the Vols with a clutch performance at NCAA Regionals that aided in an NCAA Championship bid after tying for ninth.

On top if his golf endeavors, Simpson recently completed the VOLeaders Academy program which helps athletes use their platform in sport to positively impact their team, campus and local and global communities.
