BREAKING NEWS! The Blues Revealed The Next Star They Will Spend Huge Amount Of Money On
Birmingham City are “willing to spend big” to convince Connor Goldson to leave Rangers, according to Football Scotland.
Writing on their website (7 July), the news outlet report that the experienced central defender has travelled with the first-team squad for their pre-season trip to the Netherlands.
But there are question marks over his future at Ibrox amid interest from Saudi Arabia and Tom Brady’s Birmingham side [The Sun, 30 June], with the League One club ready to splash the cash to get a deal done.
Rangers to sell Connor Goldson?
Central defence has been a problem area of the pitch for a while now with several injury problems and concerns about form and profile.
Goldson has previously been one of the first names on the team sheet but he lost his place in the team after a string of errors before a knee injury saw his season ended prematurely.
However, with Leon Balogun penning a new deal and John Souttar emerging as a key option at the back Philippe Clement has a big decision to make.
Clinton Nsiala has joined the club but Ben Davies seems likely to leave [Football Scotland, 1 June], and that opens up a spot in the squad. If Goldson is to leave, it could bring in big cash for the club which could allow the boss to reinvest in other areas of the squad too.
If Birmingham or Saudi come in with big cash it will leave the club with a big decision to make, and it will be interesting to see how it plays out.
