Breaking News: Elena Rybakina faces a severe setback as she loses coach again
Elena Rybakina’s squad is back in the spotlight after her fitness coach announced his breakup from the former Wimbledon champion.
Rybakina’s season has been overshadowed by her relationship with ex-coach Stefano Vukov. The Croatian is serving a one-year suspension from the WTA after being deemed to have mistreated her.
Over the last few months, the 2022 Wimbledon champion has made various changes to her staff.
First, she abruptly parted ways with Stefano Vukov in late August before appointing Goran Ivanisevic for 2025.
Then, in early January, Rybakina surprisingly recalled Vukov to her team, prompting Ivanisevic to leave just a day after finishing her Australian Open run.
Earlier this month, the world number seven joined Davide Sanguinetti to her staff.
But now she’ll have to look for a new coach.
“After an incredible journey alongside Elena, it’s time to move on. I’m deeply grateful for the experiences, challenges, and unforgettable moments we shared. Wishing you nothing but success and happiness in your future endeavors,” Simcich announced on his Instagram Story.
The WTA did not permit Vukov to formally return to teaching
While the 37-year-old is back working with the Kazakh, he is not permitted to accompany her to the practice courts, locker room or sit in her box during matches.
The WTA did not officially divulge the results of their investigation, although some sources indicate that the Croatian coach was verbally abusive to the 25-year-old and received a one-year penalty.
And Rybakina hasn’t been happy with the WTA in recent weeks.
“Definitely, this is not the situation anyone wants to be in. I want to have the people I want in my box, but I couldn’t change it,” the former world No. 3 said during the Australian Open.
After Sanguinetti joined Rybakina’s staff in early February, Dinara Safina’s old coach stated that he would not mind working with Vukov.
