BREAKING: Leeds United Rival Faces Possible Goalkeeper Crisis After £8m Transfer

Leeds United’s Championship rivals Burnley could lose their two first-choice goalkeepers this summer after Arijanet Muric was signed by Ipswich Town on Wednesday afternoon.

The newly-promoted Premier League outfit have raided the EFL so far this summer, making Burnley stopper Muric their latest addition to Kieran McKenna’s squad.

Much like former teammate and England youth international James Trafford, Muric is an ex-Manchester City player and moves to Portman Road for a reported £8 million.

Trafford, meanwhile, has been the subject of repeated interest from several Premier League clubs already this summer and looked to be close to joining Newcastle United earlier in the window. While noise surrounding an imminent move has somewhat cooled in recent weeks, the Burnley ‘keeper – recently called up to the senior England setup – could still leave before the transfer deadline on August 30.

Trafford and previous third-choice Lawrence Vigoroux are the Clarets’ only two remaining senior goalkeepers meaning a Trafford exit would necessitate former Leyton Orient man Vigoroux starting between the posts for the first time.

Granted, the Lancashire club are likely to move for a new goalkeeper either way, and may even make two new additions in that position should concrete approaches for Trafford return.

However, with just over three weeks until the new season begins, there is work to be done on the goalkeeping front at Turf Moor.

Leeds host the Clarets at Elland Road on September 14, which will be each side’s fifth league outing of the new season, not exactly affording any prospective new stopper a great deal of time to bed in.
