West Ham are closing in on a deal worth £13million to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Niclas Fullkrug after new talks, sources have told netsport.uk

The striker played a key role as Dortmund reached the Champions League final last season and enjoyed an impressive Euro 2024 campaign with Germany.

A deal worth between £13million and £15million is viewed as a coup by the Hammers’ recruitment team with the “cheap” deal now advancing.

Dortmund are open to cashing in on the 31-year-old who has just two years left on his deal in an attempt to maximise his price tag.

Fullkrug joined Dortmund from Werder Bremen just one year ago for a fee of around £12.7million, but could now look to cash in already.

It was an impressive season for the striker who found the net 16 times and provided ten assists in 46 appearances, including three goals in the Champions League.

Those performances in Europe inspired interest from clubs across the continent, including West Ham, and earned him a call-up to the German national team.

While the hosts exited Euro 2024 in disappointment after falling to eventual winners Spain, Fullkrug’s displays once again caught the eye as he scored two goals.

The Hammers have been searching for a new striker since Gianluca Scamacca left the club in 2023 but have been unable to land the right name.

Danny Ings and Michael Antonio were the only recognised number nines at the club last season as David Moyes’ side struggled for consistency in front of goal.

However, following the appointment of Julen Lopetegui as Moyes’ successor, the recruitment team in East London have turned to Fullkrug to solve their problems.

Lopetegui has been well-backed since arriving at the London Stadium, with deals for Max Kilman and Luis Guilherme over the line and more set to follow.
