Boost For Spurs With Target’s Release Clause Set To Become Active
Crystal Palace host title-chasing Liverpool in the first Premier League game of the weekend on Saturday afternoon.
The Eagles have endured a dismal campaign so far this term, picking up just three points from six games so far and failing to win any.
Oliver Glasner will hope to see his side’s fortunes improve sooner rather than later, but the Reds will go into Saturday’s match at Selhurst Park as strong favourites.
Off the pitch, Palace could soon be dealt another blow.
As reported by Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur remain interested in Palace winger Eberechi Eze.
It is claimed that Spurs remain interested in the England international, however a move is unlikely to take place in January.
Instead, the Lilywhites are more likely to attempt to sign Eze next summer, when a new £68 million release clause in his contract becomes active.
By the end of the season, Eze will have just two years remaining on his current contract and the report even suggests that Spurs could look to agree a cut price deal for the attacking midfielder.
The Lilywhites had previously been one of several clubs interested in Eze, and it is claimed that they are now once again monitoring his situation.
Eze, 26, joined Palace from Championship side Queens Park Rangers in the summer of 2020.
Since then, he has scored 29 goals and registered 18 assists in 132 games for the South London club across all competitions.
The report suggests that interested clubs are expected to try tempting Palace with offers in the region of £50-60 million, although it remains to be seen whether the Eagles will stand firm.
So far this season, Eze has scored once in six Premier League games, as well as netting twice in the Carabao Cup.
