Birmingham City pair Siriki Dembele and George Hall are being targeted by former boss John Eustace, who is keen to bring them to Blackburn Rovers before next Friday night’s transfer deadline. That’s according to The Sun, who add that Dembele is valued at £1.5m by Blues but who Rovers could look to offer a compromise.

Blues have been particularly busy themselves this summer, much of it a necessity; Chris Davies and the club’s recruitment team have identified and acquired two new goalkeepers, left-back Alex Cochrane, centre half Christoph Klarer, midfielders Marc Leonard, Taylor Gardner-Hickman and Luke Harris as well as wingers Emil Hansson and Ayumu Yokoyama and right-back Alfons Sampsted.

he last few days of the window bring with them a few loose ends which could be tied up; Juninho Bacuna’s future, for example, ought to be resolved, while Dembele has been linked with Blackburn and a Eustace reunion for much of the summer. He was left out of the squad which went down to London and beat Leyton Orient 2-1 on Saturday.

Dembele scored six goals last year for Blues in the Championship, including a brace at Blackburn in a 4-2 defeat under Wayne Rooney, but he has netted only a single goal since that trip to Ewood Park last November and now finds himself in a squad with great competition in the wide areas.

Hall, meanwhile, signed a new long-term contract at the club, on Eustace’s watch, last September despite numerous injury worries, but he did feature in pre-season under Davies this summer despite not featuring in the league squads up to now.
