Birmingham City Boss Has Given A “Hint” On How His Lineup Will Look Like Against Stockport

Paik and Iwata back in: Birmingham City team news and predicted XI to face Stockport County

Birmingham City are back in League One action on Wednesday night with a home clash against Stockport County.

Birmingham City head into the game on the back of their 2-1 away win at fellow third tier side Blackpool in the second round of the FA Cup last time out. Lyndon Dykes and Lukas Jutkiewicz got their goals at Bloomfield Road as they prepare to now face Lincoln City in the next round in early January

The Blues’ focus is now back on their promotion push and they won 2-0 against Exeter City at St James’ Park in their last league clash. They are sat in 3rd place in the table behind Wycombe Wanderers and Wrexham.

Chris Davies’ side are five points behind the Chairboys at the top with a game in-hand on Matt Bloomfield’s men. Their upcoming opponents are only a place behind them.

Birmingham City team news

As per a report by BirminghamLive, Alfons Sampsted, Scott Wright and Emil Hansson remain out of action for Birmingham City. Their boss Chris Davies said last week: “Hansson will be back in training within weeks, Scott Wright the same and Sampsted the same, he’ll be away for a few weeks as he picked up an injury on international duty. They’re not with us yet. I’d hope to have them back before Christmas. They’re not long-term things but they’re going to take a bit more time.”

Lee Buchanan hasn’t featured yet this season and the Blues are being patient with him as they wait for the right opportunity to throw him back in.

Starting XI

Allsop; Laird, Bielik, Klarer, Cochrane; Iwata, Paik; Willumson, Anderson, Stansfield; May

Ryan Allsop has been Birmingham City number one over recent times ahead of Bailey Peacock-Farrell.

Ethan Laird, Krystian Bielik, Christoph Klarer and Alex Cochrane seems the most likely backline for the Blues against Stockport County, with Ben Davies also pushing for a place in their starting XI.

Davies is expected to bring back key pair Tomoki Iwata and Paik Seung-ho back into the team after they sat out against Blackpool in the FA Cup. They have formed a solid partnership in the middle of the park ahead of Marc Leonard.

Willum Willumsson, Keshi Anderson and Jay Stansfield will be eager to cause the Hatters some issues.

Up front, Birmingham City have a decision to make between Alfie May and Dykes, whilst Jutkiewicz is also an option if needed.
