‘Big Trouble’ – Journo shares Everton ‘problem’ live on talkSPORT after what Dyche said
Everton and Nottingham Forest could be in “big trouble” if Luton Town can continue their form at home as they look to stay in the Premier League, according to Alex Crook.
Reacting to Sean Dyche’s comments, where the Toffees boss said he is just focusing on managing one team rather than two when asked about the Hatters moving out of the relegation zone, the journalist said on talkSPORT on Friday (2 December, 06:46pm) that it was a “good answer” from the Goodison chief.
But he added that Rob Edwards’ side could be a “problem” for the Blues in their bid to beat the drop after slipping to third-bottom in the table, having been hit with a 10-point deduction for breaching the Premier League’s rules this season.
“He was asked about Luton climbing above them in the table,” said Crook. “I thought it was a good answer actually when he said I can only focus on managing one team, not two.
“But I think Luton are a problem because they really have improved over the course of the season. Speaking to people in the Brighton camp, they feel like Luton were the best team, the best individual performance they’ve come up against.
“If they can continue doing that, particularly at home, teams like Everton and Forest, who may also be dealt with a points deduction, could be in big trouble.”
Luton form is a concern for Everton
There is no doubt that the recent form of Luton should be met with some concern by Everton after they dropped into the relegation zone following the goalless draw with Fulham on Tuesday (30 January).
While that was a decent point away from home for the Toffees, the fact that the Hatters hammered Brighton 4-0 was a surprising – and troubling – development.
Dyche certainly won’t have been discounting his relegation rivals in recent weeks, but he would’ve probably thought he has more quality at his disposal.
It’s pretty clear that the Premier League newcomers are going to put up a fight as they will be desperate to earn a second season in the top flight.
The Blues are going to have to find a way to get back to winning ways and match the fight and spirit Luton are currently showing if they want to beat the drop again this season.
