BBC Sportscene pundit reveals what he personally experienced at Ibrox
Kenny Miller shared he was wowed by the “bouncing” atmosphere at Ibrox as Rangers recorded a 2-1 win over Aberdeen on Tuesday (6 February).
Rangers kept in touch with Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership after a hard-fought 2-1 win over the Dons after goals from Rabbi Matondo and Todd Cantwell.
Miovski grabbed the equaliser before Cantwell’s winner, bagging his 20th of the season, running on the end of a long pass before beautifully lifting the ball over Jack Butland amidst pressure from Conor Goldson.
And Miller, who was at Ibrox for the game on commentary, told BBC Sportscene (7 February, 1hr:12mins) that he’s impressed by the “synergy” between the players and the fans that Philippe Clement has created at Ibrox.
He said: “I thought Rangers were very very good and inside Ibrox, there was a really really good feel, the place was bouncing, I think Clement’s talked a lot about the synergy between the fans and the players, it seems to be back and after the game, it was absolutely rocking.”
Credit must go to Clement for Ibrox transformation
Rangers were a club in need of direction and a feel-good factor before Clement came in and the Belgian has immediately provided those necessary fixes with tremendous aplomb since joining.
In his 23 games as Rangers manager, Clement has recorded 19 wins and only lost once but not only have results improved at Ibrox but the relationship between the players and the fans again.
That was one of the first tasks the Belgian wanted to put right upon his arrival and since he’s come in, Ibrox has been morphed into a raucous and intimidating atmosphere and that’s down to the belief and camaraderie being back within the fans.
The Light Blues faithful believe in the team again and it is why teams will continue to go to Ibrox and struggle, because of the atmosphere being provided by the fans.
That’s all because Clement has made major improvements to the way Rangers are playing and the energy and aggression that he demands in every game.
19 wins in 23 games means the Light Blues are now a serious threat, more than they’ve ever been since Steven Gerrard’s tenure and massive credit must go to the way Clement has transformed things at the club.
