‘Bad news’: Wolves’ Enso Gonzalez suffers awful injury setback as journalist shares possible recovery time
Wolves youngster Enso Gonzalez suffered a knee injury at the Olympics with Paraguay – and a sad update has now been issued.
Gonzalez had been playing for his country in their second game against Israel.
But the Wolves man only lasted around 10 minutes of the game before going down. He is said to have ‘fell badly after a small jump and automatically felt a pain in his knee’.
Gonzalez left the field of play on a stretcher, and was visibly upset.
Wolves fans on social media have had everything crossed that what he did was not serious. But sadly, it appears Gonzalez has indeed suffered a serious injury, with an update being offered this afternoon.
Enso Gonzalez set for lengthy spell on the sidelines after reportedly rupturing his ACL
It has been reported this afternoon by Paraguayan journalist Wilson Gonzalez Bronce, who works for Cardinal Deportivo, that Gonzalez has suffered a ruptured ACL in his right knee.
He adds that there is an estimated recovery time of six months.
The news is a huge shame for Gonzalez, who had been hoping to kick on after a testing first season at Molineux.
Gonzalez only got one cameo first-team appearance under Gary O’Neil, and there were hopes among the fanbase that he could perhaps feature a bit more in 2024/25.
There was also the possibility of him heading out on loan somewhere to get more minutes.
But Gonzalez will now be set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Wilson Gonzalez Bronce’s message on X read: “BAD NEWS… After the studies, it was confirmed that Enso González suffered a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. Estimated recovery time: 6 months. Strength, Enso!”
Horrible news for Enso
Gonzalez will now begin the gruelling journey back to full fitness and he will have the full support of the club and the fans.
This is a hugely unfortunate setback for the player, but there is one person, at least, who he can certainly confide in should he wish to do so.
Striker Sasa Kalajdzic is currently recovering from the second ACL injury he has sustained at Wolves, and third of his career. The Austria international knows all about the challenges such severe injuries bring about.
You would imagine he will certainly be there for Gonzalez during this frustrating time for the youngster.
