Paul Pierce, the legendary Boston Celtics player and NBA Hall of Famer, recently experienced a severe finger injury that necessitates surgery.

Pierce, 46, shared the news on social media, including graphic images of his injured finger. The injury involved significant bleeding and multiple broken bones. Despite the alarming nature of the injury, Pierce assured fans that he is okay and will undergo surgery to repair his finger.

Pierce, known as “The Truth,” had a remarkable 19-year NBA career after being selected 10th overall by the Celtics in the 1998 NBA Draft from the University of Kansas.

Standing at 6-foot-7, he played primarily as a small forward and shooting guard, and he spent his first 15 seasons with Boston before moving to the Brooklyn Nets, Washington Wizards, and Los Angeles Clippers.

Throughout his career, Pierce averaged 19.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.3 steals per game, with shooting percentages of 44.5% from the field, 36.8% from three-point range, and 80.6% from the free-throw line. He was a key player in Boston’s “Big Three,” alongside Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen, leading the Celtics to their 17th NBA championship in 2008 and earning the Finals MVP title.

Pierce also helped the Celtics reach the Finals again in 2010, though they lost to the Los Angeles Lakers. He won the 3-Point Contest during the 2010 NBA All-Star Weekend and had his No. 34 jersey retired by the Celtics in 2018, marking his place among the franchise’s greats.

In 2021, he was named to the NBA 75th Anniversary Team, solidifying his legacy in the sport.
