Aston Villa Faces ‘Biggest Challenge’ of Europa League as Monchi Made The Point
Monchi will find it difficult to duplicate his Sevilla success with the Villans, Aston Villa has been informed.
The Spaniard traveled from Sevilla to Villa Park throughout the summer. Unai Emery, the manager of Villa, and he were once teammates at the Spanish team where they won multiple Europa League trophies.
And Spanish football expert Alvaro Romero has warned that Monchi’s “biggest challenge” will be replicating the success he enjoyed in the transfer market at Villa Park. However, he believes Monchi’s track record proves that he can help to propel the Villans to the next level.
“I believe that the biggest challenge of Monchi right now is living up to the old Monchi because now there are many football clubs who are investing a lot of money in recruitment and right now I think that this is his biggest challenge,” he told netsport News.
“Also operating outside of Seville and it’s going to be difficult for Monchi because he was always successful at Sevilla, but not so much at Roma and so far it’s been very good with Aston Villa. But I think that Monchi has always been a person that has worked very well within his boundaries and normally that is Sevilla.
“But also I think he has been very clever because at some point he spotted that maybe going for the Champions League wasn’t the best quick route to success. He has used the Europa League as the competition to validate his philosophy and has proven as well that the Europa League can be the competition to propel mid-size clubs. So I think that Aston Villa has a very similar situation right now.
