Another “Terrible” Prediction On Bolton vs Stockport Revealed, Is He Correct?

A new low’ – Stockport County vs Bolton Wanderers prediction: The72

The72’s writers offer their Stockport County vs Bolton Wanderers prediction ahead of the League One clash on Saturday.
Bolton Wanderers travel to Edgeley Park to face Stockport County this weekend in the latest round of League One action.

Bolton Wanderers make the journey to the other side of Manchester to face a Stockport County outfit left licking their wounds after a midweek humbling

The Hatters welcomed in-form Wycombe Wanderers to Edgeley Park and a ruthless display from the Chairboys saw the hosts put to the sword. County were thrashed 5-0 in a midweek mauling, with Richard Kone and Fred Onyedinma scoring braces while Bolton loanee Aaron Morley rounded out the scoring.

The strong start made by Dave Challinor’s side feels like a thing of the past with two wins in the last 10 games leaving them 10th in the League One table.

As for Bolton Wanderers, their recovery from a poor start has seen them overtake this weekend’s opponents and move back into the play-off picture.

The last eight games have seen vast improvements from Ian Evatt and co. They’ve lost just once and won six, rising to 6th in the process.

The Trotters weren’t in action during the week so will be well-rested after their FA Cup win over Walsall last Saturday, In the League One game prior, Evatt’s side produced a routine 4-1 win over Stevenage away from home.

Here, a handful of our writers make their predictions for the game…

James Ray

“The mood has definitely dampened at Stockport County with their strong start a thing of the past. The Tuesday night thrashing at the hands of Wycombe Wanderers marked a new low for them this season, so Challinor will be determined to get a response out of his side.

“They face Bolton Wanderers at the wrong time though. The dismal start made by the club has been forgotten and they look stronger for it.

“The Trotters have shown both the firepower to blow teams away and the resilience to hold onto or snatch wins in tough scenarios. Evatt deserves big praise for that, especially given how much pressure he came under.

“If they’re at their best, Stockport could be a good match for Bolton, but they’re struggling at the moment while the Trotters impress. That only points to one outcome for me.”

Prediction: Stockport County 0-2 Bolton Wanderers

Harry Mail

Stockport County’s confidence will have taken a blow from their loss to Wycombe Wanderers last time out.

“The Hatters have a young squad and saw experienced players like Paddy Madden and Antoni Sarcevic leave over the summer. They have since adapted pretty well to life in League One and are a work in progress.

Bolton Wanderers are probably a bit more streetwise and I can see them getting three points at Edgeley Park to boost their promotion hopes. They have won their last two on the spin in the league and should be in good spirits as they prepare for their short trip to Stockport.”

Prediction: Stockport County 1-2 Bolton Wanderers
