Latest Nottingham Forest transfer news as Reds target signings before summer window closes

Ramon Sosa has been linked with Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest have been told how much they would have to pay to sign winger Ramon Sosa amid suggestions talks have taken place over a possible deal.

The Reds’ interest in the Paraguay international emerged earlier this week. Reports from Argentina claimed the club had been in discussions with CA Talleres regarding “the payment method and percentages of an operation”.

According to Paraguayan publication Versus, the Argentine side want at least $20 million (£15.5m) for Sosa. However, it seems they would be willing to do a deal for less if it included certain add-ons.

The 24-year-old is reportedly continuing to train with his teammates but is not seeing any game time for Talleres. It is said he is awaiting the “possible crystallisation” of a move to the City Ground.

Forest’s Premier League rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers and newly-promoted Leicester City have also been linked with Sosa. The former reportedly “gave up” on trying to lure him to Molineux earlier this month.

In May, Talleres president Andres Fassi indicated the player was likely to leave this summer. After a $15m (£11.6m) offer by LA Galaxy was rejected, he said: “Ramon will surely be released in this market, he has our commitment to leave.”

Sosa would provide competition and cover in an area of the pitch the Reds are in need of strengthening. Head coach Nuno Espirito Santo has made his stance clear, saying bringing in a winger is a priority in the remainder of the transfer window.

The Portuguese has added goalkeeper Carlos Miguel, midfielder Elliot Anderson, defender Eric da Silva Moreiera and centre-back Nikola Milenkovic to the ranks so far. Further incomings and outgoings are expected before deadline day on August 30 as Forest continue to shape Nuno’s squad for the Premier League campaign ahead.
