Amanda Staveley eyeing new role for Toon chief after Howe earns promotion – Report
It looks like Steve Nickson is now being considered to fill the role left open by Dan Ashworth at Newcastle United.

The Chronicle report that Amanda Staveley is a ‘big fan’ of our chief scout, while The Mail say Nickson’s ‘work ethic and attention to detail’ has impressed our co-owners.
It’s believed he’s under consideration now our sporting director/director of football position could be redrawn following Ashworth’s exit, but there’s already been one behind-the-scenes promotion for Eddie Howe’s nephew Andy.
The former Bournemouth talent-spotter has been promoted to assistant head of first-team recruitment, seeing him work under Nickson after previously operating as our head of technical scouting.
Back to Nickson, he’s thought to be more than just a scout behind the scenes, as he not only identifies and watches potential targets around the world, but played a key role in negotiations that brought the likes of Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali to Tyneside.
