Alex Crook Addressed Palace to keep an eye on Julen Lopetegui
Speaking with Netsport, GiveMeSport, talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook has explained what he finds interesting about the Lopetegui to Palace links.
He’s even gone so far as to tell the Eagles supporters to keep an eye on Lopetegui as an option.
“The Julen Lopetegui link is interesting because I think he has pushed himself forward. He is keen to get back into Premier League management and has turned down offers from Saudi Arabia, so don’t rule him out.”
Lopetegui is a name who has been linked with Palace since Hodgson’s position became precarious. The Spaniard has also been mentioned as an option this week by HITC‘s transfer expert Graeme Bailey.
We even listed him among six managers we see as options for Palace to succeed Hodgson with.
Steve Cooper was seen as the favourite for Palace
Continuing, Crook then explains that he sees Cooper as the clear favourite with Palace close to appointing him once before.
“But I think that Steve Cooper has always been the favourite. They were close to appointing him before they gave the job to Patrick Vieira. I’m told that he is very keen to get back to work, and he doesn’t want a long sabbatical.”
Cooper has been seen as the ideal choice since Nottingham Forest sacked him in December and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him in the dugout next season for the Eagles.
This was always going to be his final season but with the atrocious displays he’s been coaching his side to, his exit could come sooner than expected.
This has sparked an avid desire from fans for an exciting new boss to come through the doors and despite Steve Cooper being the clear favourite, there’s one option which could also be increasingly likely.
