Wolves monitoring ‘very smart’ £25m Premier League winger Julen Lopetegui raved about
Wolves appear to be eyeing a Premier League winger who Julen Lopetegui really raved about.
Vitor Pereira has guided Wolves to a healthy position in recent weeks.
Wolves are nine points clear of the relegation zone, and it’s starting to look like safety is a strong possibility for Wanderers.
Alan Shearer reckons the relegation battle is done, feeling the current bottom three are all doomed.
With the gap now fairly big, it would appear Wolves are already planning for next season
And there will certainly be plenty of changes to the squad, with a number of players out of contract.
And it has now been claimed that Wolves have eyes on Luis Guilherme from West Ham United.
Wolves interested in Luis Guilherme summer transfer
According to Caught Offside, Wolves hold an interest in West Ham winger Luis Guilherme heading into the summer.
The Brazilian is said to be facing an uncertain future with the Hammers at the moment.
Apparently, West Ham are willing to sell him this summer, and a host of clubs are already circling. They include:
And there is word of an asking price. Supposedly, West Ham would be willing to cash in on the 19-year-old for around £25 million.
Guilherme only joined West Ham last summer, joining them from Palmeiras.
But minutes have been hard to come by for the youngster, and he has made just eight appearances so far.
Pablo Sarabia could leave Wolves this summer, as could Carlos Forbs. Hwang Hee-chan is also being looked at by other clubs. So Wolves could very well be in the market for new wingers this summer.
An asking price of £25 million may well put Molineux officials off though.
What Julen Lopetegui said about Luis Guilherme
Guilherme was actually the first signing former Wolves boss Julen Lopetegui made at West Ham.
His move there hasn’t really worked out so far, but Lopetegui did have some big praise for him not long before he was sacked.
After an injury to Jarrod Bowen, Lopetegui said of Guilherme (via BBC Sport): “Step by step he’s more ready to help us and he’s going to take advantage of his opportunity.
“I have the feeling that, with time, he’s going to become a very good player for the Premier League.
“He has one very, very good thing: his mentality. He’s a hard worker. He’s a very humble boy and a very smart boy. He wants to improve. That’s why I think that he’s going to have a good future.
“I would like that his future is as soon as possible because we want to take advantage of him. I have a good opinion about the future because of his condition, physical, technical and his mentality.
Wolves, of course, have a pretty big Brazilian contingent at Molineux now with the likes of Matheus Cunha, Joao Gomes, Andre and Pedro Lima, and obviously there are lots of Portuguese speakers as well.
This might be something that helps Wolves in any pursuit of Guilherme this summer.
