AFL Top 100: Trade wars – Melbourne vs

Published

on

I have a good mate who is very dirty on Collingwood.

Now that is nothing unusual, as he barracks for Melbourne.

However, unlike most older Demon supporters who can remember the classic seven Grand Finals between the Demons and Magpies, the last one being in 1964, my mate’s attention is focused on one player who changed clubs from the Rad and Blue to the Black and White: Jeremy Howe.

He reckons Howe, a high flying forward who still (just) appears on the Demons’ Top 100 goal kickers list (in equal 100th place) left Melbourne and went to Collingwood because the coach had plans to play him as a high flying back man.

Guess where he plays at Collingwood? As a high flying back man, still receiving nominations for mark of the year, a premiership player and now a Top 100 game player at the Magpies!

Howe played exactly 100 games for Melbourne and kicked 80 goals whereas at Collingwood he has played 152 games and kicked only 23 goals.
