4-star CB Onis Konanbanny has officially flipped his commitment from Tennessee to Florida
Losing a recruit is always painful for the Tennessee Volunteers football team, but it is usually exacerbated when the Florida Gators are involved. Despite his long-time commitment to the Vols, 4-star cornerback Onis Konanbanny will not play collegiate football in Knoxville.
Instead, Konanbanny, who did not officially pledge to the Gators during the Early Signing Period, has opted to reverse his decision. This news was something Vols fans were anticipating, as Billy Napier and his coaches never stopped recruiting Konanbanny and made him a priority leading up to Wednesday’s National Signing Day.

Konanbanny, a London native, is ranked the No. 35 cornerback in the country according to the 247Sports Composite and the No. 8 prospect out of South Carolina for his class. He moved to the USA when he was 15 to chase his football dreams, with NSD set to be extra special for him.
Unfortunately for Josh Heupel and the Vols, Tennessee will now see him making plays for a different SEC squad. Throughout his recruitment, the 6-1, 180-pounder picked up more than 40 offers, showing just how many teams were hoping to land his signature.
For a while, it appeared that Tennessee would be the youngster’s future home, but Napier never ceased showing him affection, and it seemed like a change was on the way. Konanbanny paid an official visit to Tennessee in June, but a November excursion to Florida certainly caught his attention.
It had an impact on the CB postponing his signing, and it ultimately played a significant role in his decision to sign with the Gators on Wednesday rather than Tennessee. This news will undoubtedly disappoint Vols fans.
