£4.5m striker thanks Rangers fans with Philippe Clement set for transfer
Kemar Roofe has taken to Instagram to thank Rangers fans for their warm welcome as the potent hitman made a long-awaited return from injury.
Rangers have been without the 31-year-old hitman throughout his Ibrox career with Kemar Roofe last seen turning out for the Light Blues in the 2-0 victory over St Johnstone in December.
Ibrox supporters have gotten used to Kemar Roofe returning from lengthy lay-offs just to be ruled out with injury almost immediately so no-one will be getting carried away.
But the presence of Kemar in the Rangers squad and his 15 minutes in the 5-0 win over Hearts was certainly a positive sight and it may be the beginning of a summer transfer head scratcher.
Kemar Roofe thanks Rangers fans on Instagram
Kemar Roofe took to Instagram after coming off the bench v Hearts to thank Rangers fans for their support during the striker’s warm-up.
Fans can often forget that there is a human being underneath the tough exterior of their star players and no-one will be more frustrated at the striker’s injury situation than Kemar Roofe himself.
Having also taken the opportunity to praise the support for the atmosphere against Hearts, the return of Kemar Roofe comes as momentum builds at Rangers.
Cyriel Dessers netted twice in the 5-0 win over the Jambos, whilst fellow forward Fabio Silva came off the bench to add another.
If Kemar Roofe returns to the Rangers fold then suddenly Philippe Clement has several options and depending how the next few months go, he could have a serious transfer headache in the summer.
Ibrox striker boost in Hearts demolition
This is because Kemar Roofe is out of contract in the coming months and as things stand his Rangers injury record would surely point to an Ibrox exit.
But Philippe Clement has already proven himself something of a wizard at Ibrox and as he sets about transforming the club’s injury record, Kemar Roofe might just be his biggest challenge.
Joining Rangers in a reported £4.5m deal from Anderlecht in 2020, Kemar Roofe was the top league scorer in the 55-winning season but injury have disrupted the last three years of his Ibrox career.
There have been some almighty moments whenever Kemar Roofe has been fit – even this season the striker netted the winner v Real Betis – but his lack of availability has also cost the club.
If Kemar Roofe can begin to build his fitness at Rangers, not only will the club have a potent striking asset as they challenge on three fronts.
But perhaps the striker can give Philippe Clement and the recruitment team a welcome transfer headache this summer and stake his claim for a new contract at Ibrox.
In 94 appearances for Rangers over four seasons, Kemar Roofe has scored 38 goals across approximately 4675 minutes (123 minutes per goal).
