25-year-old Nottingham player sought by Europa League team
Rennes are the latest club to show their interest in Nottingham Forest midfielder Orel Mangala – with the Reds demanding over £20 million.
This comes from Florian Plettenberg.
So, what has the journalist said about the situation involving Orel Mangala and Forest? Let’s take a closer look…
Rennes enter race for Forest star Orel Mangala
It would appear as though Mangala is now going to leave this month amid interest from across Europe.
Last week it came to light that Juventus and Napoli were chasing Mangala – with the player apparently holding a desire to leave.
Now, according to Florian Plettenberg, Rennes have entered the race, making an offer for the 25-year-old.
It’s believed that they want to take Mangala on loan from Forest and hold an obligation to sign him for around £20 million.
However, that’s unlikely to cut it for Evangelos Marinakis who is keen to receive a higher transfer fee for one of his club’s top midfielders.
Several other clubs may enter this race and Forest could be about to receive a bidding war for their midfielder.
Forest must get the best deal for star midfielder
Alan Rogers this week said that he thought Mangala was a ‘good player’ and Forest should avoid loaning him out.
In fairness, if the club are going to include an obligation to buy then perhaps that wouldn’t be a bad move.
It’s a shame that Forest have to offload Mangala full stop, given that he’s been one of the top-performing players this season.
Mangala has the best pass-success ratio of any midfielder in the Forest ranks, according to Who Scored, and he’s really kicked on.
The chance to play in Europe ahead of Euro 2024 has obviously proved too strong, however, and the challenge for Forest is to get the very best deal for him.
