Newcastle United is attracting interest in Miguel Almiron from Brazil, Turkey and the MLS, according to reports.Miguel Almirón - Player profile 24/25 | Transfermarkt

Signed for £21million, a club-record fee at the time, in January 2019, Almiron has played over 200 times for the Magpies. A purple patch in 2022-23 saw the Paraguayan earn a three-and-a-half-year contract in February last year.

However, just over 18 months later, Almiron is struggling for first-team football despite limited options on the right flank. Eddie Howe has not started the 30-year-old in any of United’s opening seven Premier League games.

Almiron’s poor form last season saw him come under scrutiny from Newcastle supporters. While his effort never comes under criticism, a meagre goals and assists return since joining from Atlanta United have left him out of favour.

Interest from Charlotte FC in the summer fell flat despite club officials reportedly jetting to the UK to thrash out a deal. Speaking in August, Howe insisted Almiron was an important part of his squad.

“A lot of speculation with Miggy over the summer which will have been difficult for him,” he said. “He’s a really valued member of the squad, he’s very much with us and we value his qualities and what he brings.”

A fresh update from the i now claims Newcastle would listen to offers from several left-field parties – providing they meet the £15million valuation. Little outgoings since the Saudi-backed takeover is one reason behind the Magpies’ frustrating FFP/PSR position.

The piece highlights how Toon chiefs are unwilling to sell Almiron for a cut-price fee. Fulham are also named as a possible destination should the forward – who prefers to stay at Newcastle – seek a Premier League move.
