Nottingham Forest
21-year-old Chelsea man has now been handed his big chance to impress after draw vs Nottingham Forest
Chelsea were not able to add to their five-game winning run in the final fixture before the international break at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues were held to a 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest, with them owing a lot to Noni Madueke’s performance for getting them back into the game.
Enzo Maresca will have to get creative when it comes to picking a team for the first game after the break, when the Blues make the trip to Anfield to take on Liverpool.
He is already without Marc Cucurella and Wesley Fofana, after they picked up their fifth yellow cards of the season.
There will be some concern that this feat has been reached in just seven league games. Robert Sanchez has publicly told his teammates to stop with talking back to officials.
Renato Veiga handed great chance at Chelsea
The Spaniard in particular has been crucial to Maresca’s system, and is likely to be replaced in two weeks’ time by 21-year-old Renato Veiga.
The Portuguese star has impressed greatly in his limited appearances up to now, finding the net in the Conference League against Gent last week.
However, starting against the league leaders marks his biggest moment in club football by some distance, and a chance to prove he should be considered for regular Premier League minutes already.
Veiga likely to replace Marc Cucurella
Joao Felix has claimed that Veiga is the hardest working player at Chelsea, and he is likely to be given the chance to prove this on the biggest stage later this month.
This is of course providing he escapes the international break without any form of injury. The versatile defender has been named in the Portugal squad alongside Pedro Neto and Joao Felix.
Fofana meanwhile is likely to be replaced by Tosin Adarabioyo, who has been knocking on the door for more starts in the Premier League with his performances as of late in a Chelsea shirt.
