Would this Nottingham forest Star worth £8m offer possibly enough

Nottingham Forest have made a blistering start to the 2024/24 Premier League campaign and the club sits in 10th place in the table.

It represents a small progress from this stage last season, although it’s fair to say that the fixture list has been unkind during the current campaign.

Forest have taken eight points from away games with Southampton, Liverpool, Brighton and Chelsea but do await a first win on home soil.

The Reds are reaping the rewards of some meticulous recruitment this summer, with Nikola Milenkovic recently drawing praise from Henry Winter.

Naturally, following a fine start to the campaign, clubs are looking towards Forest and some interest is emerging in the player’s top stars.

According to netsport Roma are now keen to exploit the contract situation with Aina in the winter transfer window.

It’s claimed in the Roma Press that £8 million might be enough to sign the player – although that does feel cheap.

Forest are keen to hand Aina a new contract, with a four-year deal mentioned last month given that his contract is up in the summer.

Aina penned an extension to his existing deal during the summer transfer window, after helping Forest remain in the Premier League last season.

The 27-year-old signed on a free transfer from Torino and Serie A is a league that he does know well having played 113 times for them.

Aina leaving Forest would be a huge blow, however, and he’s looked largely useful in the 29 appearances he’s made for the Reds.

The full-back was superb against Liverpool this season and Aina drew some big praise from Alan Shearer who named the defender in his Team of the Week.

Forest must hand Aina a new contract

Some might view £8 million as relatively good business for a player who signed for free just 10 months ago.

However, Forest must be building a team around quality players and right now, Aina is the first choice at right-back.

It would be a serious blow to see him leave the City Ground and Forest must act quickly to get the player tied to a long-term deal on Trentside.

Aina is versatile to the point where he can play on either side and furthermore, he looks like a good character within the dressing room.

Evangelos Marinakis has learned from some previous errors as Forest owner but if he weighs up a decision to sell Aina then it might prove to be a costly mistake for the club.
