With Cold Voice Championship Boss Suprise Nottingham Forest This Summer

Emmanuel Dennis, a striker for Nottingham Forest, was reportedly presented to Watford manager Valerian Ismael this summer. Just a year after acquiring the striker from the Hornets, the Reds made a valiant effort to let him go.

The Watford Observer has now discussed any possible interest in Forest player Dennis with the gaffer. The Reds allegedly made a return offer to the player’s former team during the transfer window.

Things didn’t work out for Dennis at Forest. He cost the club around £10 million upfront but he managed just two goals for the club and found it extremely difficult to impress Steve Cooper.

Watford boss claims he was offered Dennis

The Hornets have broken their stereotype with Ismael. Despite a poor start to the campaign, they’ve actually given him a new contract rather than doing what they usually do and sacking the manager.

Ismael has now explained that he was offered Dennis during the summer. It would seem as though he refused point black and he told the Watford Observer: “His name came on my desk, but I said no. Simple as that.”

Forest-owned Dennis signed for Watford in the summer of 2021. He scored 10 goals for the club in the Premier League before earning a move to Forest after the Hertfordshire-based club had been relegated.

Forest wise to get rid of Dennis

Some signings work and others don’t. File Dennis at Forest under the latter. Cooper never really fancied him and this had all the makings of a transfer that the head coach wasn’t really on board with.

Dennis is a capable performer but when Istanbul Basaksehir came forward with a loan proposal it made sense for Forest to cut him loose. For context, the player has failed to score in four games with his new club.

While at Forest with his compatriot, Taiwo Awoniyi gave him accolades. He described him as a “very good player,” but for some reason, Cooper didn’t seem to share his center-forward’s beliefs.

Dennis would have been more than adequate back at Watford, despite his difficulties at Forest. Considering how poorly 2023–2024 is going for them, maybe Ismael wishes he hadn’t been quite so contemptuous when his name appeared on his desk.
