Three Nottingham Forest Players Fully deserved call-ups for 2026 World Cup qualifier
Nottingham Forest trio Serge Aurier, Ibrahim Sangare and Willy Boly have all been called up to the Ivory Coast squad for the upcoming break.
The three players have all impressed under boss Steve Cooper so far this season, as the Reds hunt for a top-half finish this season.
Sangare has slowly settled into life at the City Ground after moving from PSV Eindhoven for £30 million on deadline day.
As for Boly and Aurier, the pair have continued on from last season – proving to be solid players with the latter taking the armband at times this season.
Boly, Aurier and Sangare to feature during the break
Ivory Coast kick off their 2026 World Cup qualifiers during the upcoming international break, with the trio all expected to play important roles for their nation.
Jean-Louis Gasset’s side start their campaign with a home tie against Seychelles a week today, before travelling to face Gambia just three days later.
They will be looking to make a good start to their qualification group, but also prepare for the upcoming AFCON tournament which starts in January.
Ivory Coast are hosting the tournament which kicks off on January 13th, with Forest expected to lose up to six first-team players whilst the tournament takes place.
Fully deserved call-ups for the trio
Aurier has been a brilliant free signing since his arrival at the start of last season, with Cooper transforming the defender into a level-headed and solid Premier League full-back.
As for Boly, he’s taken his performances to the next level this season, with multiple brilliant performances – one of which included a goal at Old Trafford. His £3 million transfer fee now looks an absolute bargain.
Finally Sangare, a player who hasn’t fully settled at the club, but someone who did produce his best performance in a Forest last weekend against Aston Villa.
Hopefully, the trio can all come back from international duty unscathed to help Cooper push on and build on the last couple of weeks.
