Nottingham Forest face competition from at least two other Premier League sides should they wish to sign former Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino in January.

The Reds have been linked with an interest in the Brazilian via the Spanish media as he eyes a sensational return to England just six months after leaving. Firmino joined Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli in the summer.

It is widely reported that the forward is unhappy at his current club, having not found the back of the net since August. All of his last eight appearances for the club have come off the substitutes bench after losing his starting place.

Should Forest follow up their reported interest, then reports suggest that they will not be the only team attempting to sign the player in January. According to TalkSPORT, Fulham are one of the teams to be ‘offered the chance’ to sign Firmino.

The report also adds that bottom club Sheffield United have previously shown an interest in the 32-year-old. That was however under former manager Paul Heckingbottom, it is still to be seen if Chris Wilder would retain that interest.

Firmino spent eight years with Liverpool, joining from Bundesliga side Hoffenheim in the summer of 2015. During his time at Anfield he played 362 times, scoring 111 goals and providing 79 assists.

He also helped the club to lift the Champions League in 2019, the Premier League in 2020 and the FA Cup and Carabao Cup double in 2022. The striker returned to the club for the first time since leaving on Monday night when he attended the Premier League game against Newcastle United.
