Somethings That Shocked Charlie McParland can’t believe what he saw Forest did last week
What Charlie McParland witnessed last week at Nottingham Forest is unbelievable. The individual who had previously served as a coach at the City Ground was questioned on the loss at Manchester City last weekend.
The Triple Champions from last season defeated the Reds 2-0. Within the opening 14 minutes, goals from Phil Foden and Erling Haaland were enough to secure the victory.
Rodri was sent off in the second half and that gave Forest the impetus to make a fist of things. The Reds were spirited in the second half and they really took the game to City.
McParland shocked at something Forest did last week
It did make a nice change for Forest to have more of the ball. Against a solid team like City, it proved hard for the Reds to break them down but it was a refreshing change of pace.
Forest have to build on last weekend’s game against Manchester City. McParland was happy – and surprised – to see the Reds have so much of the ball last weekend
He told Team Talk: “You look at the game and it was quite tactical and Forest set up how they’d normally set up away from home. They conceded a couple of goals but City on their day they’re the best in the world.
“In the second half, the lad gets sent off and it’s the first time I’ve seen Nottingham Forest play with possession in the Premier League I think since they came back up.
“But, they only had one shot. There’s no point in having all that possession and not having shots. Forest fans are happy because they only got beat 2-0.”
Forest must try and dictate more
It’s no secret that some fans would like Forest to dictate more. Last season, the Reds were a counter-attacking team and with a better squad, the team should be more fluid.
But it won’t happen immediately. McParland was taken aback by Forest’s performance the previous week, and it’s obvious that he wants the club to possess the ball more frequently.
Cooper may be able to work on this issue during training. Fans will be hoping that the Reds are able to dictate games more frequently this season after he switched from a style of play he typically prefers last season.
