Scott McKenna speaks out about his transfer details and Admits

Scott McKenna admits he would have liked his Nottingham Forest spell to have ended on different terms as he completed a loan move to FC Copenhagen for the remainder of the season.

The centre-back had been at the City Ground for the last three-and-a-half years after completing the move from Aberdeen in 2020. McKenna played a key part in Steve Cooper’s side which won promotion to the Premier League in 2022.

The 27-year-old had played just the opening five Premier League games this season before being left out of the squad. The 1-1 draw with Burnley in September is likely to have been his last game with his contract set to expire at the end of the season.

Having been a bit-part player this term, he hoped his time on Trentside had a different outcome. “It was difficult. In those three and a half years I got close to a lot of people who were all around me and supported me when I wasn’t playing,” he told Danish outlet Bold.

“Of course, I would have liked it to have ended on different terms, but that’s how football is. You don’t always get what you want. I still came in every day and trained to the best of my ability. There was no need to be in a bad mood. I still wanted the team to do well.”

He went on to add that he was still motivated to train and maintain his best shape. “For me, my priority was always to keep myself in the best shape. If I was asked to play at Forest or somewhere else, I would be ready,” McKenna explained.
