Nottingham Forest

Scott McKenna and two other players to leave the squad

I am now going to pick three Nottingham Forest players who I think are likely to be sold by the club, who are in danger of getting relegated from the Premier League, in the middle of the season.

Joe Worrall

Joe Worrall was not getting picked by Steve Cooper. The duo reportedly fell out with each other and the former was told to train away from the first team. A new manager has now come in, and perhaps Worrall could get a chance to become a regular again.

However, Moussa Niakhate, Willy Boly, Murillo and Felipe are ahead of him in the pecking order at centre-back. With Leicester City and Middlesbrough linked with the former Rangers loanee, I would not be surprised if Forest decided to sell the 26-year-old in the January transfer window or at the end of the season. Worrall is under contract at Forest until the summer of 2026.

Scott McKenna

Like Joe Worrall, Scott McKenna was also banished from first-team training by then Forest manager Steve Cooper. There is reportedly a dispute over his contract. As things stand, the centre-back will become a free agent at the end of the season and has been linked with Fenerbahce.

The 27-year-old has been training away from the senior squad most of the season. Given that he is out of contract at the end of the season, there is a very good chance that Forest could just sell him in the January transfer window and get some money in. Celtic are reportedly interested.

Serge Aurier

Serge Aurier knows the Premier League well, and the former Tottenham Hotspur right-back has done well for Nottingham Forest, especially last season when talkSPORT pundit Tony Cascarino was shocked by how good he was. The 31-year-old made 22 starts and two substitute appearances in the Premier League for Forest last season and has made 10 starts and two substitute appearances in the league so far this campaign.

Aurier is out of contract at Forest in the summer of 2024. Nuno did not use the Ivory Coast international when he was in charge of Tottenham. As noted in The Mirror, just weeks after taking over at Spurs in the summer of 2021, he decided to offload him. I would not be surprised if Nuno tells his Forest bosses to sell Aurier in the January transfer window.
