The Gunners defender is expected to depart the Emirates this summer after reportedly falling foul of Mikel Arteta. It was reported last year that the Spanish coach and his staff had become annoyed with Tavares’ behaviour and the defender was consequently loaned out to Olympique Marseille

In France, he featured regularly, becoming an important part in a side that came third in Ligue 1 last season. Despite this, his path to the Arsenal first team still appears to be blocked. German sides Werder Bremen and Wolfsburg have been said to be keen on the Portuguese left-back.

More concrete, however, has been the interest from Nottingham Forest, who some reports claimed were prepared to put as much as £30 million on the table. Now, Fabrizio Romano has given an update on the state of the negotiations.
