Tottenham senior scout Ian Broomfield has been sacked by the club and has commenced a period of gardening leave, sources have told Football Insider.

The 73-year-old has been a long-standing member of the club’s scouting system having joined back in 2009.

Broomfield spent three years as the chief scout of the north London club before leaving for a brief stint at Queens Park Rangers in 2013.

He returned to Tottenham in 2014 to rejoin the club’s scouting team, where he has worked for the past decade.

Football Insider contacted Tottenham for comment on Thursday (2 May) and the club confirmed: “The review of our football operations continues and involves the restructuring of a number of departments.”

Broomfield is one of many staff members involved in a behind-the-scenes restructuring at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The club announced last year that they are undergoing a review of football-related policies to lean towards data-driven recruitment under manager Ange Postecoglou.

Since that announcement, Spurs have appointed Scott Munn as chief football officer and Johan Lange as the club’s technical director.

Rob Mackenzie has also rejoined the club as their head of recruitment as they prepare for the upcoming summer transfer window.

Postecoglou’s side have five league games remaining this season and are still in the race for Champions League qualification in 2024-25.
