Report: Nottingham Forest really like 37-year-old Premier League winner, he could be signed today
It now seems as if Nuno Espirito Santo could add a very experienced head to his Nottingham Forest squad on deadline day.
Forest performed well for long periods against Arsenal on Tuesday, and Nuno clearly set up his side well.
The game plan was working, Arsenal were frustrated, but Forest ultimately still failed to take any points from the game.
As has often been the case this season, Forest were in part let down by their goalkeeper Matt Turner, who hasn’t impressed since his switch from North London.
A former goalkeeper himself, it might raise concern among Forest fans that Nuno still considers Turner ahead of Odysseas Vlachodimos despite his shaky displays.
That being said, Mail Online have now reported interest in signing former Leicester City captain Kasper Schmeichel.
Forest looking to add Kasper Schmeichel on deadline day
37-year-old Schmeichel is currently playing his football at Belgium side Anderlecht having moved from Nice in the summer.
Amassing 16 appearances as number one this season, there shouldn’t be too much concern over Schmeichel’s ability to return to the top flight.
Moreover, a character like Schmeichel could be perfect suited for the tough months that Forest could have ahead.
It remains to be seen if Anderlecht would be willing to sanction a loan deal, or whether Schmeichel would need to be bought in permanently.
But either way, it would seem like a smart move for Forest on deadline day, even if it’s a very short-term move.
That being said, fans may then expect either Vlachodimos or Turner to leave the club in that scenario.
