REPORT: Forest contrived a bit of deal a Newcastle
This transfer has come out of the blue somewhat. With just hours of the latest PSR cycle left, Forest contrived a bit of a deal with Newcastle
The Reds took a chance on Anderson whilst in return Newcastle have agreed to sign goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos.
It’s not quite clear on the finances involving the stopper heading north – but Forest have parted with a total sum of £35 million for Anderson.
At 21-years-old the future looks bright for the midfielder and now Newcastle legend Shay Given has reacted to the transfer.
The Reds got this deal over the line late last night and it would appear that PSR has been kept in check this time around.
Anderson looks – on paper at least – like a very useful addition to the Forest ranks.
Given certainly thinks so and he’s now reacted to the news that Anderson has swapped the North East for the East Midlands.
He posted on X: “Best of luck Elliot, think it’s a big loss to the club IMO.”
Given clearly doesn’t agree with the decision and from a Forest perspective this feels like a good piece of business.
It’s always good to gauge what the consensus is from the selling club and it would appear that plenty – including Given – aren’t happy that he’s gone.
Anderson can star at the City Ground
Forest now have two midfielders in their ranks who cost in excess of £30 million and a few years ago that felt impossible.
Now, Forest are determined to prove that they can stick around in the Premier League and become an established club.
Anderson can help with that remit and at 21 it would seem as though he’s got plenty of time to continue developing.
The youngster played 44 times for Newcastle in the Premier League and last season he also made a number of appearances in the Champions League.
Anderson fits the profile when it comes to Forest and their change of recruitment strategy and hopefully he can thrive on Trentside.
