Nuno Espirito Santo’s hopes set on high

Richard Keys has admitted he was “surprised” at Nottingham Forest‘s choice to replace manager Steve Cooper with Nuno Espirito Santo.

The Reds sacked Cooper on December 19 amid a run of just one win in 13. They replaced the Welshman with former Tottenham and Wolves boss Nuno who has won two of his first three games in charge

And former Sky Sports broadcaster Keys has praised Nuno’s start at the Reds which has included famous wins over Newcastle and Manchester United. He also shared his belief that Cooper will bounce back from his sacking at the City Ground.

“Nuno couldn’t have had a much better start,” Keys said in his regular blog. “I must admit that I was a bit surprised by Forest’s choice to replace Steve Cooper, but so far so good.

“As for Cooper – he can hold his head high knowing that he couldn’t have done any more at Forest. Perhaps it was the right call to take him out of the firing line, but he’ll be back and on his own terms. He’s earned the right to dictate what comes next.”

Nottingham Forest are next in action at home to Blackpool in the FA Cup third round on Sunday. Their next Premier League game comes on January 20 away at Brentford.
