Nottingham Forest
Nottingham forest in agreement with world class player
That is according to The Athletic, which has reported how Forest tried to convince the former United goalkeeper to move to the City Ground.
So, what has been reported about Nottingham Forest and David de Gea? Let’s take a look.
Nottingham Forest wanted to sign David de Gea
Well, Nottingham Forest signed Matz Sels on the final day of the January transfer window. The former Newcastle United goalkeeper moved to the City Ground from Strasbourg on deadline day.
However, Forest would have not signed Sels had they been able to convince David de Gea to make the switch.
The Athletic has claimed that Forest tried to convince De Gea by explaining to him that “there could be value in playing regular football between now and the end of the season”.
“The short-term offer was declined,” states the report. Newcastle United were also linked with De Gea, who has been described as “a world-class goalkeeper” who is also “a great shot-stopper” by Manchester United and England international central defender Harry Maguire.

The 33-year-old goalkeeper is a free agent at the moment. Manchester United released the Spaniard at the end of last season.

My View: David gea would have been a coup
In my opinion, David de Gea would have been a coup for Nottingham Forest. He has been one of the best goalkeepers in the past, and I think that he would have raised the standards at the City Ground.
De Gea has a wealth of experience. Although he is 33 now, we should not forget that he won the Golden Glove last season. The Spaniard is a brilliant shot-stopper.
Matt Turner, who joined from Arsenal in the summer of 2023, has made costly errors for Forest this season, and head coach Nuno needed to sign a new goalkeeper. I think that De Gea would have been a great signing for the Reds.
