Nottingham Forest captain Joe Worrall being closely monitored this big club
Leicester City are now monitoring the situation involving Nottingham Forest captain Joe Worrall during the January transfer window.
That is according to The Athletic.
So, what is the situation involving Joe Worrall and Nottingham Forest? Let’s take a look…
Nottingham Forest captain wanted by Leicester
It’s no secret that Nuno Espirito Santo wants a smaller squad – according to reports – and that could see plenty of departures this month.
The Athletic also believes that Leicester are one of the clubs keen on keeping tabs on the defender, with West Ham also watching Forest star Worrall with intrigue.
Steve Cooper – who was sacked last month – and Nuno have both overlooked Worrall for the starting eleven this season at the City Ground.
There was a small reprieve for Worrall as Forest headed to Newcastle on Boxing Day. With Willy Boly suspended he took a place on the bench and came on for the final moments.
However, there were reports of a bust-up between Worrall and Cooper after the head coach at the time chose not to play him against Aston Villa.
Will Forest sell Joe Worrall?
This, we guess is the million-dollar question and it’s tough to answer.
Espirito Santo wants a smaller squad but ultimately, his squad is about to be decimated for a month with the African Cup of Nations.
That tournament has robbed Forest of Moussa Niakhate and Boly for a few games and that naturally bumps Worrall up the pecking order.
Furthermore, Nino, who for so long looked set for Forest, is now seemingly going to sign for Zenit St Petersburg instead.
Much is likely to depend on the situation involving the interested parties.
If Leicester, or West Ham, want to make a serious bid for Worrall then it looks likely that it will be entertained by Forest.
However, Espirito Santo is likely to be relaxed over this one given that he may be forced into using him in the coming weeks.
