Nottingham Forest 5euro deal on a verge to collapse

Nottingham Forest look set to miss out on Brazilian defender Nino as he nears a move to Zenit St Petersburg. The Reds had looked to win the race to sign the uncompromising player but now Russia looks like his likely destination.

The Reds are going to be in the market for another central defender this month. Forest defeated Manchester United on Saturday to follow up their brilliant 3-1 win over Newcastle on Boxing Day.

Nino has been linked with Forest for absolutely ages. It was claimed that a £6 million deal was close to being agreed but that he wanted to stay with Fluminense as they bid to win the Club World Cup last month.

Forest to miss out on Nino transfer

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Reds are now going to miss the boat on this one. Nino looks set to head to Zenit, subsequently turning down the chance to join Forest.

Nino has been with his current club since 2020 when he signed from Criciuma. He’s gone on to make 239 appearances for the Brazilian outfit and a couple of months ago the Forest-linked Nino was called into the Brazil squad.

Forest were hoping to sign the player for around £6 million but Nino looks to be heading to Russia. It was claimed previously that he didn’t want to sign for the Russian outfit and was preferring a move to a top European league instead.

Forest could do with a new central defender

The Reds will be without Moussa Niakhate and Willy Boly for a little while now. The African Cup of Nations is set to take centre-stage and both Forest defenders are heading off to play for their respective countries.
