Leeds United fancy Nottingham Forest talent
Leeds United fancy Nottingham Forest talent Neco Williams as a replacement for Djed Spence who has returned to Tottenham.
This comes from Phil Hay who has been speaking to The Square Ball Podcast.
So, what has Hay been saying about Leeds and their interest in Forest defender Neco Williams? Let’s take a closer look…
Phil Hay says Leeds like Forest player Neco Williams
Well, the EFL outfit might like Williams but as Hay has already alluded to, that doesn’t mean Forest will let him leave this month.
Leeds are in the market for a new full-back after they decided to end the loan of Spence who made just seven appearances for the Whites.
Williams has featured in every game that Nuno Espirito Santo has managed at Forest so far as he weighs up his squad options.
Hay has claimed that Leeds do like Williams but he doesn’t feel that the player will be leaving the City Ground this month.
The Athletic journalist told The netsport.uk “A few people have been telling us that Leeds like Neco Williams at Forest, but I don’t think there is much – or any – scope for Forest letting him out.
“He seems to be well in the plans of Nuno, or at least well-rated by Nuno – it’s very, very quiet I have to say on the transfer front at Leeds at the moment.”
Williams has part to play at the City Ground
The 22-year-old Wales international has kicked on as a player this season and when he’s been called upon, he’s looked pretty useful.
Williams signed for Forest for £17 million from Liverpool in the summer of 2022 to end his long association with the Anfield giants.
This season, he’s made 11 appearances and he looks like he’s one of the two right-backs that Montiel will have in his matchday squad.
Gonzalo Montiel has the shirt at the moment but Williams has showcased form that suggests he can push him for his place.
Forest will want to do some outgoing business this month. However, it would be a major surprise if Espirito Santo lets Williams leave the club.
