Jonathan Panzo could now be recalled by Nottingham Forest
Jonathan Panzo could now be recalled by Nottingham Forest as he continues to struggle for games on loan at Cardiff City.
That is according to Darren Witcoop.
So, what has been doing the rounds regarding the future of Forest defender Panzo? Let’s take a closer look…
Nottingham Forest could recall Jonathan Panzo
Panzo followed Forest teammate Josh Bowler in joining Cardiff during the summer but things haven’t gone according to plan.
The 23-year-old has played just five games during 2023/24 – accumulating just 170 minutes on the pitch for the Bluebirds.
Now, according to George the Reds could recall the left-sided central defender and send him on loan elsewhere.
He claims that there is Championship interest should he be recalled – whilst Eredivisie outfit Vitesse Arnhem are also keen to sign him.
The reputable transfer journalist does claim, however, that no decision has been made on Panzo by Forest just yet.
Forest have big decision over Steve Cooper signing
It was probably the worst possible situation for Panzo when the Reds won promotion to the Premier League and he’s never had a chance.
He was signed from Dijon in January 2022 but made just one appearance as Forest reached the top flight through the play-offs.
Panzo spent last season on loan with Coventry and helped them reach the play-off final, stepping off the bench at Wembley against Luton.
At 23, the defender just needs to play football and whilst Forest remain in the Premier League, that’s going to be difficult for Panzo.
The centre-back was part of Steve Cooper’s team at the under-17 World Cup that England won in 2017 and as a result, his signing made sense.
In the summer Panzo will have just a single season to remain on his current deal and now Forest have a decision to make on the youngster.
