Ian McParland now believes Nottingham Forest should consider signing this world class player
The man who worked as a coach at Forest was speaking on Notts TV.
So, what did McParland say about Bamford potentially being of interest to Forest? Let’s take a look…
What did Ian McParland say about Forest and Patrick Bamford?
Well, the man who offers punditry on Notts TV show Team Talk, believes that the Leeds striker would be ideal for Forest to sign this month.
Forest probably need to add a striker to their ranks, with Taiwo Awoniyi still nursing the injury he picked up against West Ham in November.
With that in mind, McParland believes that Bamford fits the criteria as someone who could come in and do a job for Forest.
He told Notts TV: “Hear me out, but (Patrick) Bamford at Leeds, right? He drives me potty but if Forest could get him on loan until the end of the season, why not?
“He scores goals, he’s scored goals wherever he has been and he’s also done it before in the Premier League.”
Forest must aim higher than Bamford
This is a pretty left-field suggestion made by McParland and Bamford to Forest is a complete non-starter.
The talisman has scored just once for Leeds during 2023/24 and that came in his only start under Daniel Farke against Birmingham on New Year’s Day.
Bamford is 30 now. Last season he scored just four Premier League goals in 28 appearances as Leeds were relegated.
McParland’s claim will definitely come on the back of Bamford supporting Forest and coming through the club’s academy.
Signing the academy graduate has to be viewed as a backwards step, however. Forest should have better irons in the fire than Bamford as they bid to land a new striker this month.
The Leeds man would be a backwards step for Forest and his record of 24 goals in 184 Premier League appearances suggests he’s nothing more than a flash in the pan at the top level.
