There are conflicting reports about Bruno Guimarães being on Paris Saint-Germain’s radar. Still, it would come at a substantial cost if the capital club decided to pursue the Newcastle United midfielder.

Initial reports on Thursday suggested Guimarães as Plan A to strengthen PSG’s midfield. Contrary to earlier information, it now appears that the Brazilian is on PSG’s radar. Furthermore, additional details emerged on Friday, solidifying the link between the French giants and Guimarães.

Transfer window specialist Fabrizio Romano weighed in with his information regarding the Ligue 1 side’s reported interest in the former Olympique Lyonnais player.

“I am not aware of anything on a deal with PSG for Bruno Guimarães now,” Romano wrote for CaughtOffside. “PSG like Bruno for sure but I am not aware of any concrete negotiation so far. In case it changes, I will update, but at this stage, it is very quiet.”

Romano wasn’t the only one to speak on this rumor, as Newcastle manager Eddie Howe addressed it. If Howe’s remarks have any weight, it’s hard to see Guimarães leaving the Magpies this January.

Should Guimarães leave, PSG will likely pay the release clause, which is reportedly at €115 million. These next few days should be interesting to follow to see if any new developments arise.
