Nottingham Forest
Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino has explained the decision to recall Andrey Santos from his loan spell at Nottingham Forest.
Pochettino seems to be happy that Santos is no longer at Forest.
So, what has Mauricio Pochettino said about Chelsea, Nottingham Forest and Andrey Santos? Let’s take a look.
Mauricio Pochettino explains Chelsea decision regarding Andrey Santos
Well, Andrey Santos has returned to Chelsea from his loan spell at Nottingham Forest.
Santos moved to Forest on loan from Chelsea in the summer of 2023. The Brazil international midfielder was expected to stay at the City Ground for the entire season.
However, Chelsea have decided to recall the teenager. Head coach Mauricio Pochettino has explained the reason why.
Pochettino has noted that Santos was not playing at Forest, and seems happy that he is back at Chelsea now.
My View: Nottingham Forest will not miss Andrey Santos
In my view, Nottingham Forest are not going to miss Andrey Santos. The Brazil international midfielder did nothing of note at the City Ground during his loan spell at the Reds.
Santos made just one appearance in the Premier League for Forest. The 19-year-old played just seven minutes in that match.
The teenager also made one appearance in the Carabao Cup for the Reds.
I personally do not think that Forest should have signed Santos in the summer of 2023, even on a loan deal. After all, he is only 19 and had no experience of playing in the Premier League.
Let us not forget that Santos moved to Chelsea from Vasco da Gama in January 2023 for £18 million (The Daily Mail). He went back on loan to the Brazilian club in March.
It was always going to be tough for Santos to establish himself at Forest. Then manager Steve Cooper was unlikely to give too many chances to a 19-year-old when survival in the Premier League was at stake.
Meanwhile, Emmanuel Dennis has been offered to Rangers in the Scottish Premiership.
Journalist Sacha Tavolieri has reported on X that the Nigeria international striker has been proposed to Rangers, adding that the player himself is keen on a move to the Gers in the January transfer window.
Dennis is on loan at Istanbul Basaksehir from Forest at the moment. The striker moved to the Turkish club in the summer of 2023.
